We are pleased to announce that earlier today, our VP of Safety, Jeff McKinney, was named the Clare C Casey TCA Safety Professional of the Year during TCA’s 43rd Annual Safety & Security Meeting.
This honor is bestowed upon a trucking industry professional whose actions and achievements have made a profound contribution to enhancing safety on North America’s highways.
Jeff has been the Vice President of Safety for Jetco for more than 15 years and for the GTI Group since it acquired Jetco in 2019.
Jeff is actively involved in the industry, but his commitment to TCA Safety remains paramount. He has served as a Moderator for Safety in the Round and has been on several panels. In March of this year, he joined TCA’s Chairman’s Club, which recognizes members who have grown TCA membership.
When asked about what sets Jeff apart, Jetco President Kyle Kristynik stated that Jeff is great at holding team members accountable.
"Accountability is critical to any organization and one of our core values at Jetco. I appreciate how Jeff incorporates accountability into Jetco’s safety culture. He partners well with our Operations team, encouraging a culture in which everyone – not just a single department – owns safety.” Kristynik also stated that Jeff knows how to make his team members successful. “Jeff also recognizes that for everyone to be successful at their jobs, they must have the training and tools to execute.”
Jeff has been in the industry for over 30 years and is very deserving of this recognition. Despite starting with the “old school trucker” mentality, Jeff has embraced the changing environment of safety, using data and analytics to make first Jetco, and now the whole GTI Group, a safer company.
