The Greater Houston Freight Committee met last month to discuss, among other things, what critical freight corridors are in need of a repair throughout the region. Co-chaired by Jetco CEO Brian Fielkow and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, these two came armed with information from the area’s heaviest traveled freight corridors and were ready to identify the areas that need the most attention, as well as prioritize them. The committee works to assure the full incorporation of a vibrant freight infrastructure into the public transportation planning process and looks at long-term needs to create a healthier freight infrastructure.
Houston is home to one of the biggest industrial hubs in the world. So as you can imagine, our roads receive their share of wear and tear. The committee will ensure cooperation between the private and public sectors.
