Breaking News: Port of Houston Closes in Preparation for Hurricane Harvey

Written by Lisa Sursavage | Aug 25, 2017 5:00:00 AM

We received the following from the Port of Houston:

In preparation for Hurricane Harvey, Barbours Cut and Bayport Container Terminals will close at noon.

Truck in-gates will close at 11:00 a.m. to ensure all trucks are worked timely.

We will continue to evaluate conditions through the weekend and communicate plans for Monday ASAP.

In addition, IMS will close at noon; truck in-gates will close at 1100 a.m.

This will delay any pick ups, and we will work to deliver any empties that we are able to obtain prior to the closing.

Jetco cannot at this time advise what the steamships lines are going to when it comes to last free days or cut offs. Please work directly with the steamship lines on any further details. We will keep you informed as to when the container ports resume operations. As we indicated in yesterday’s email, expect delays and inefficiencies as things begin to return to normal.

We have also been informed that Texas is not issuing permits for any cargo coming into areas affected by the hurricane.
